After the consumer targeted mess that was the Touch HTC has moved back to what is does best...

The 'P6300' targets the enterprise market but it doesn't half make a compelling mainstream device with an iPhone-equalling 3.5in touchscreen LCD, proportionately slim dimensions (129 x 70 x 18mm) and Windows Mobile 6 operating system.

Furthermore, unlike the iPhone, this handset can open and edit Microsoft Office documents and though it similarly lacks 3G it sports WiFi, Bluetooth, IrDA, a fast 400MHz CPU and 256MB ROM/128MB RAM – twice the usual amount. Battery life is excellent with up to eight hours of talk time and there's the usual audio playback abilities, a two megapixel camera with video capabilities (seems we need to tack that on these days) is also featured along with full support of third party applications (!).

The P6300 was previously codenamed 'Panda' but unlike its libido deprived namesake it promises to multiply in large numbers come its launch next month. Expect the usual range of telcos (Orange/T-Mobile/Vodafone) to snap it up and position it in a fairly mid-range space.
