With less than two weeks before Apple's massively hyped, hugely anticipated and increasingly tiresome to write about iPhone goes on sale in the US a few important firsts have surfaced.

On the hardware side the phone's first Bluetooth headset accessory has only just passed FCC testing which I would say is leaving things a little tight. The publicly available documents reveal little about the 2.4GHz peripheral other than it has the model number 'A1221' and uses a single button for accepting incoming calls. There's no information regarding pricing or availability either - though 29 June seems like a good date to me.

The Bluetooth headset – which was shown briefly at Macworld Expo – will be followed by a more traditional wired headset with integrated mic that (given the iPhone's price) I hope is bundled with the device itself.

Moving to all things software, the first third party app for the iPhone has appeared since Job's revealed add-ons would be limited to Web 2.0 + AJAX coded programmes. The announcement led many to worry at the limitations this would impose on writers and initial signs aren't good. First app: 'OneTrip' – a web-based shopping list!

Described by the programmer as a "single page, no-reload javascript app [that] is basically a shopping list you can carry around on your iPhone" it is unlikely to strike fear into Windows Mobile users who get treats like Live Search and Deepfish (yummm Deeeeepfish). I guess great ideas sometimes start small... very small.

Interested potential iPhone users can check OneTrip out here though only through the newly Windows capable Safari web browser. Why? In the words of the coder: "Because that means extra work and I can't justify that since I'm really only targeting iPhone users. Sorry." Inspiring.
