This is unlikely to be the handset fanboys have been crying out for but finally we do have a Google mobile phone on the market... it's just made by LG.

The 'KS10' is a fairly decent sounding slider (though it's no Switch) with a large 2.4in QVGA display, 2MP integrated camera and HSDPA for zippy mobile broadband. It has the usual multimedia playback capabilities, a Symbian operating system, stereo Bluetooth and a full xHTML browser.

The Google part of the deal is that the KS10 will come with Google Maps, Gmail and Blogger preinstalled on it. Not overly exciting really.

As for onboard memory, dimensions, weight, battery life and all that other useful stuff LG was keeping mum but it was good enough to reveal that we can expect it in Europe and South East Asia before the end of the year. Rather oddly Italy appears to be getting the handset way before everyone else since LG says it will arrive this month – quite what is up with this marketing strategy I'm not sure anyone knows...?! (apart form maybe some Italians - tell us, tell us!)

The KS10 won't be the last Google-LG joint offering, whether it will actually lead to a Google branded phone on the other hand is for people with far better Photoshop skills than me to speculate.
