I expect to see a lot more of this sweet, sweet looking handset at CeBIT on Thursday but it appears someone at Sony Ericsson couldn't wait...

Pictures of the 'CyberShot K850i' appeared on the web last night courtesy of Hungarian website Terminal.hu and it looks like SE might have a well timed hit on its hands. Blessed with a hefty five megapixel camera with Xenon flash this sleek handset somehow manages to keep the weight off with a slender 117 x 48 x 13mm candybar frame.

So what has had to make way for such a stick like appearance? Not too much on the face of it: there's UMTS, a 256k colour 320 x 240 screen, Bluetooth 2.0 A2DP, USB2.0 interface and second VGA camera for video calls. I might add I'm not entirely convinced about the keypad though.

Interestingly, this handset confirms to me that the ultra thin mobile market is slowly becoming split into two categories: those designed purely to impress your mates with at the pub like the LG Prada phone and well featured if slightly less dashing models like this Cybershot and Samsung's Ultra II range.

Either way, I have to admit I'd hate to be compact digital camera manufacturer in the current climate. After all, would you carry a six megapixel compact digicam in our pocket if you already had a 13mm thick mobile with a five megapixel lens and memory card? I think not...
