After moistening the brows of executives everywhere with its new F series of smartphones, Sammy has lubricated the loins of the unwashed masses.

Joining the (now officially announced) Ultra Edition 5.9 and Ultra Edition 10.9 – rechristened the U100 and U600 respectively (but probably debuting in the UK under their former names) is the Ultra Edition 9.6/U300. This 9.6mm thick clamshell doesn’t have 3G but it does offer up a 3.2MP camera, 2.2in QVGA display, A2DP support, 70MB memory and a microSD expansion slot.

If HSDPA is a must however then your best bet is to go for the Ultra Edition 12.1/U700, a slider which matches the U600 spec for spec other than the addition of 3.2Mbps HSDPA at the expense of a little more girth (12.1mm thick) and less memory (20MB) – come to think of it that’s not particularly ‘spec for spec’ at all really, is it?

The unknowns for both the U300 and U700 are the weight and battery life but with a Q1 release schedule it looks like we’ll be finding out those missing deets early next month. Did I just say “deets”?

Good old Samsung, I knew I could rely on you to both fondle my brain and frazzle my delicates... Err...
