For those smug style-freaks among you who recently picked up one of Samsung’s delicious D900 mobile phones start mourning. It’s already been upgraded…

That’s right, less than three months since the ultra-thin follow up to the classic D600 hit shelves a major hole in its product specs has been filled: HSDPA.

The newly rebranded ‘SGH-Z720’ boasts the same 2.1in 240 x 320 262k colour screen, identical 3MP digital camera, slinky 105 x 51 x 13.8mm dimensions and 80g weight but now you’ve got super high speed 1.8Mbps theoretical data speeds onboard too (1Mbps is closer in real world use, but who’s arguing?).

Quite which networks are picking up the Z720/D900 Sexy Edition has yet to be revealed but it seems likely that T-Mobile with its still, as yet, unrivalled flat rate ‘Web n Walk’ data plan is an ideal candidate.

No release has been muted for the handset so far but it screams “Q1 2007” to these ears. Oh, and for the record, it has the same MicroSD expansion slot and Bluetooth connectivity as your D900, so it really is the same… …only better!
