Screen size is fast becoming the key element in new high end mobile phones, so Sony has decided to call on its television kudos with a ‘Bravia’ branded handset.

Outfitted in a striking orange – rather like Riyad’s swanky new wheels – the 3G clamshell features an internal screen that almost completely fills one side. No figures were given regarding the size of this screen, but considering the handset’s dimensions (106 x 50 x 20mm) it mustn’t be far shy of four inches. Despite this however the resolution will be the increasingly standard QVGA (320 x 240) though the quality should be fantastic since Sony claims it will employ the same ’Reality MAX’ technology that it uses in its Bravia High Definition TVs.

Elsewhere, specs are equally cutting edge with a 3.2MP camera that features automatic image stabilisation, 1GB of internal flash memory and an incredible 45 hour battery life during MP3 playback.

As with all the best handsets, this will debut first in the Far East with Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo having picked it up (hence the FORMA branding of its 3G network) but early indications are it will head across to Europe in the first half of next year. Funnily enough there is no mention of the Ericsson brand anywhere but we’ll not read too much into that at this stage.

So if you own a swanky ginger motor or just happen to be carrot topped yourself, this could be the first must-have mobile of 2007.
