We first stumbled upon Picsel Technologies’ fantastic ‘Proviewer’ product back in November when Riyad discovered it inside the lovely Samsung D600. 40m copies have sold since and now finally Picsel is making the application available direct to customers.

In a nutshell this handy tool enables users to view native Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files along with Adobe PDF, Plain Text and Image Files on their mobile phones. The solution also incorporates rather clever pan and zoom functionality alongside text reflowing which makes viewing content on small screens more pleasurable than it has any right to be.

The catch is that currently Proviewer can only be downloaded for use with Palm, Symbian and Windows Mobile compatible devices not more basic operating systems like the ones found on the Samsung D600. We guess there must still be some exclusive licence(s) holding Picsel back.

Proviewer is immediately available from the company’s Picselpowered website for a discount rate of $14.99 for a limited period. Nokia Software Market, Handango and other online software retailers have also made the app available for purchase and it comes with a limited free trail period.

Can’t say fairer than that…
