Mobile Phone Of The Year 2011
Our shortlist for the Best Mobile Phone of 2011 included phones from manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, HTC and Sony Ericsson. They ranged from premium handsets with lightening fast processors to smaller devices at the budget end of the market. We asked you to vote for your favourite, whether that was a phone you bought during the past 12 months or one you simply wished you owned.
Having tallied your votes we whittled down the shortlist to three finalists: the Apple iPhone 4S, the Orange San Francisco and the Samsung Galaxy S2. The chosen finalists showed that while premium handsets with bright screens and beautiful designs still dominate the smartphone market, there is also a move towards offering huge features for a budget price.
Our panel of experts then got together to discuss and debate the merits of each phone getting a chance to play and use each before casting their votes.
The voting was very close, but looking at the judges' comments, it is clear that they felt the stunningly thin design, super-fast dual-core processor and remarkable screen of one handset in particualr made it a superb product and worthy winner of Mobile Phone of the Year 2011.
