While the iPhone 3G, BlackBerry Storm and Android based T-Mobile G1 have attracted the most consumer attention sneaking up quietly on the rails is the HTC Touch HD and now we know when you'll be able to get your hands on one...
6 November has been confirmed as the official UK launch date which means the G1 and Touch HD will be launched within a week of one another sending customers into a pre-Chrimbo buying / upgrading frenzy. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Storm appears around the same time to truly boggle our minds.

Back to the Touch HD however and contract and pricing details currently remain unknown, but a quick peek at HTC's site reveals UK networks for the handset - at least initially - are perennial fans Orange and Vodafone.
As for the draw of the handset itself, while Windows Mobile won't be to anyone's everyone's taste, it's hard not to be enticed the 3.8in 480 x 800 pixel display, 7.2Mbit HSDPA connectivity, GPS with integrated Google Maps, 5MP camera, microSD expandability and standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh if only Android were on it...
Tempering that, the 146.4g weight is rather a lot even if its 115 x 62.8 x 12mm dimensions are promising. From free on £35pm contracts? Maybe, but expect them to be at least 18 months long.
Are we in the best smartphone spell ever? Easily, and the really cool part is this is just the beginning...

Looks like the Touch HD is going head to head with the Xperia X1 for the title of best Windows Mobile.
I would much rather see HD + Android vs iPhone though!
