While HTC has had many pretenders to the iPhone throne, it could finally be coming up trumps with this latest leak...

According to MoDaCo, the so-called 'Touch HD' will send shockwaves around the industry with its native WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) touch and widescreen display and kitted out spec list which includes a five megapixel camera (no flash), WiFi, GPS and (shock+horror) a 3.5mm headset jack!

Other notables are a zippy 528MHz Qualcomm 7201A processor, microSD/SDHC expansion slot, large 1350mAH battery and iPhone comparable dimensions of just 115 x 62.8 x 12mm. Apple, in your face?

Or is it?

Obvious points still to consider with the Touch HD are a lack of any substantial native memory (other than the 512MB ROM / 256MB RAM), the continued need for a bundled stylus and that old chestnut: Windows Mobile 6.1. Of course the latest version of TouchFLO does eliminate a number of the troublesome OS's most irritating problems, but it isn't the full cure by any means so we'll have to cross our fingers that HTC has yet more tweaks in store before what I'll assume is a Q4 release.

Come HTC, stick on Android instead and I'm sold...

Has no one thought of comparing this with the X1? This seems to be an X1 with TF3D instead of Panels, and no hardware keyboard. My guess is HTC have a contract with Sony stopping t... more

@Gordon: Most of the recent devices have a higher pixel density than most HDTVs! (The Raphael/Diamond have twice as many pixels as the iPhone, and a much smaller screen)

@Katier

IIRC the SPV M3100 was the Tytn. I had the T-Mobile version. The camera on that was no better than the iPhone 3G's (which I now have) camera.
