While the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder is still said to be some way from release, word is the equally exciting Bold is due in the UK early next month.

Who says? Pocket Lint, and according to it two interesting pieces of news will come out from this: firstly, Vodafone will be the first network to launch the swanky handset and secondly that progressive telco 3 will also offer the smartphone, in the process securing its first RIM handset to date.

Naturally for all of you jumping up and down on your spinney chairs (be careful) and desks (your colleagues will not thank you) a note of caution: I chased up the trusty old Vodafone press office and they were remaining tight lipped on the subject only suggesting that it would definitely be here by the end of September. Personally however I'd go with the rather more chatty 3 who gave PL this info since it is clearly keen to crow about its score (as it should).

Those of you looking for a refresh of what the Bold offers will only get the Cliff notes since you're clearly too lazy to click the embedded link above. There's HSDPA, WiFi, GPS a 2MP camera, multimedia player, 1GB of internal memory, a microSD expansion slot, slinky 114 x 66 x 13mm dimensions and a pocket friendly-ish 133g weight.

Any reservations? Well, this is a biggie...
