Here goes...

The formal details are out on the most anticipated BlackBerry in years, so I'll just cut straight to it:

HSDPA (naturally), WiFi, Push email, v4.6 of the BlackBerry OS, a 624MHz CPU... ok, ok, we already know this.

Of course these aren't really the titbits you were after - I'm an awful tease - this is what we really learn this time around: WiFi has been improved to offer fast access and diagnostics, BlackBerry Maps has enhanced POIs with users able to specify their own, Map search histories are preserved and user friendly keywords such as 'near' and 'in' can be used to assist searches.

Three themes are available by default: 'Precision Zen', 'Precision L' and 'Precision Today' offering different home screen layouts program shortcuts. Applications can now be deleted from the ribbon, there's unicode support in S/MIME and PGP and password based encryption in S/MIME.

Multimedia gets a big boost with inline video streaming in the browser and support for JavaScript 1.5, CSS 2.1, DOM L2, HTML 4.01 and XMLHttpRequest. Files can also be downloaded straight from the browser while pages scale and zoom (mobile Safari's in for a serious battle). There's a tighter integration between the camera and video camera as well while the picture library can display shots on both the main memory and external memory simultaneously. Automatic playlist creation is in there too based on user specified criteria.

So all we need now is the device itself. Which may or may not be hiding from the 3G iPhone. Either way, all we can say is "Come on RIM, let these two titans go head-to-head at the same time..."

Note: Here are some additional snaps I've collaged from a cheeky eBay listing (now removed) of one BlackBerry 9000. Looks like it's ready for launch people, just a question of when RIM is ready to let it off the leash...
