A long expected breakthrough from an unexpected source?

Yep, I'm sure most of us would have pinned our colours to the mast and sworn down that LG or Samsung would have been the most likely candidates for the first projector equipped portable media player (PMP) but they've been beaten to it by little known Sunvision.

The 'Sunview PMPP' (that's two P's) is the result and while it certainly isn't the most attractive, elegant or portable looking device we've ever laid eyes on its beauty is on the inside. The LED based 'iView IPL630' projector squashed in there can blow up an image to a monstrous 53in - highly impressive. Delve a little deeper however and you'll see that at this size the screen brightness drops to just 9 lux with Sunvision suggesting it is better to go for a (unstated) happy medium.

Elsewhere you'll get a 3.5in LCD, microSD expansion slot, external speaker and remote control though vitals such as battery life, codec support, cost and availability are all left out. At 5.2 x 3.1 x 1 inches the PMPP isn't the most svelte of models either and with a Windows CE based operating system also scaring us off I'd suggest - quirkiness apart - to wait for second generation units.

Still, thanks to Sunvision we have a first generation and for that it deserves some kudos...
