Despite, rather curiously, splitting the news it is updating its C Series range of GPS units over two days and separate press releases - I saw through that one - we can finally report Mio has three new models for you to ogle.

Working from top to bottom (financially speaking), we have the 'C520b' (and its 'C520tb' variant), the 'C320b' and the budget friendly 'C230'.

Both C520s (top, left) feature a 4.3in LCD which can display either in full widescreen or split screen information modes, a (ubiquitous) SiRFstar III GPS chipset (whenever will we see SiRFstar IV?), speed camera warnings out of the box with free updates, MP3 playback, Bluetooth handsfree calling, an integrated photo viewer and contact list and pan-European mapping via Tele Atlas. The C520tb predictably adds Traffic management into the mix.

As for the C320b (above), it matches the C520b except much of the multimedia functionality has been stripped out (contacts, photos and Bluetooth though MP3 playback remains) and traffic management isn't an option. Finally, saving those working on a shoestring is the C230 (top, right) - a cutesy looking unit with a 3.5in LCD and all the features of the C320b, excluding MP3 playback.

Pricing is ruthless too because while the flagship C520tb and C520b come in at a top-end £269.99 and £199.99 respectively, the C320b is particularly sweet at £169.99 and the C230 won't be out the reach of many pockets costing just £139.99 RRP. Couple this with the company's fabulous MioMap 2008 software which includes 3D mapping and Garmin, Navman and TomTom may find themselves sleeping rather uncomfortably tonight.
