You may have noticed that the swanky SideKick Slide is becoming noticeable by its absence from T-Mobile stores since its supposed release last month. Word is, the handset has hit a major snag...

According to reports, lifting the screen to reveal the keyboard can cause the handset not only to crash but to perform a hard reset. Yes it's one of those oopses again. However did this escape Quality Control?

A build flaw is apparently the reason for the issue - which makes it all the harder to fix - and occurs because the gap between the contacts for the battery and the connector on the phone are too large. Sliding the screen up causes the battery to move around. BoyGenius reports that a solution is to use a business card or folded piece of paper and stick it between the battery and the battery cover to minimise movement. Still, it's hardly ideal...

Consequently, T-Mobile is said to be considering pulling the SideKick Slide completely from its product line. A blow not only for it, but all the Paris Hilton wannabies (get help girls, please). Whether a tweaked version will turn up in the near future is currently unknown.

So for now all existing Slide owners a) beware but b) revel in the fact that you're just sooooooo exclusive darrrling.
