Back in August Vodafone announced it would somehow force through 7.2Mbps mobile broadband speeds by Q4 - it succeeded but until now those without an Express Card slot have been left high and dry...

Righting this wrong today however is the 'pebble' - the cute and rather fitting internal nickname Vodafone has bestowed on its first 7.2Mbps capable USB modem.

Backing up its funky Applian-looks and lightening connectivity is a reasonable £49 RRP when combined with a £25pm flat rate Mobile Broadband contract (3GBpm fair usage policy). As a special Christmas promotion, Vodafone is also offering two for the price of one with an 18 month contract. If you prefer to go down the slightly less scary 12 month contract route however you'll be hit with a £99 charge on the same £25pm contract.

Given its appearance it is only right that the pebble is both Windows and Mac friendly and it also becomes immediately available. Oh, and if you don't want Vodafone staffers giving you odd looks you should probably refer to the cutesy wootsy pebble by its grown-up name: "USB Modem 7.2"...

...not that it likes that - do you my sweetie weety shiny whiny pebble?
