Anand Chandrasekher - Senior Vice President Ultra Mobility Group - also wanted to talk mobility, but a very different type of mobility from Dadi. There's no denying that Intel has been extremely successful when it comes to notebook hardware, but for the past few years Intel has been pushing a different kind of device in the shape of the Ultra Mobile PC, as well as the Mobile Internet Device. The reason for this was made clear, Intel doesn't feel that the current generation of handheld devices provide a good enough Internet experience.

Intel feels that consumers want the Internet experience on their handheld device to be identical to the experience on their PC, something that I wouldn't argue with. With more and more rich media on the Internet, handheld devices struggle to keep up. Adobe's Flash for instance, tends to launch a whole two years later on handheld devices than on a PC platform, and even then it's Flash Lite, not the full version.

Intel showed an interesting slide listing all the features that consumers never use on their Internet enabled mobile phones, because the experience just isn't good enough.

Intel's forthcoming Menlow platform addresses these issues, allowing the creation of a mobile Internet device that can provide the kind of Internet experience that consumers are used to seeing on their PC. Menlow incorporates Intel's 45nm Silverthorne processor, combined with a low power chipset and integrated graphics.
