Since its stunning launch it would be fare to say interest in the iPhone has actually dropped considerably with the lack of 3G, a high price and an exclusive long term network tie-in slowly dissuading many. That doesn't mean we aren't all interested in when it will release though...

Latest web reports/rumblings/rumours/idle tittle-tattle suggests the (fairly) coveted handset could be debuted on 11 June, the first day of WWDC07. The source is said to be a carless Cingular manager, the iPhone's exclusive US network, and which fills me with about the same sense of faith as I get moments before an England penalty shootout.

That said, the chatter does raise a more interesting point: As it is widely known, Apple has a well worn habit of releasing products on a Tuesday and given the next official mention is likely to be an exuberant Jobs declaring "And you can get it right now!" the 12th is a much better bet.

As for the UK? Nothing solid yet but Vodafone is currently top of the network rumour mill due to its pan-European distribution.

At this point I have to step and admit that I just can't stand it anymore. All this iPhone talk is driving me (and I'm sure a lot of you) crackers because of the neglect consequently shown to its primary cash cow: the iPod. It has been over 18 months since anything remotely interesting was done to the line and even then we were all disappointed by the evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, nature of the 'video' iPod.

Come on guys, give us something on THAT to speculate about. After all, the Apple product we most want in our pockets doesn't come with an 18 month contract...!
