At the start of the month E-TEN announced that its oddly named Glofiish handset was the slimmest smartphone on the market to feature an integrated GPS receiver. It isn’t, the HTC P3300 – formerly Artemis – has that title and now T-Mobile has brought it to the UK.

At just 12.8mm thick the newly re-christened ‘MDA Compact III’ easy out-fasts the 16mm Glofiish and despite a slightly lighter paint job retains all the vital specs of the P3300:
Quad band, GPS, 2.8in 230k touchscreen LCD, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, 2MP camera, audio and video playback, FM tuner, MicroSD slot, WiFi, Bluetooth and 111.5 x 62.5 x 12.8mm.
Being HTC originated Windows Mobile 5.0 is at the Compact III’s operational core and it ships with CoPilot Live 6 satellite navigation software. Microsoft Office is also pre-installed along with Direct Push and BlackBerry Connect.
The Compact III goes on sale immediately and though price will vary according to contract a sweet spot appears to be the Flext 35 tariff plus web n’ walk (£42.50pm) which lands you the handset for just £59.99. All hail our new technological senses of direction.
