Considering LG’s hugely popular and rather stylish ‘Chocolate’ phone was never really chocolate to begin with it seems apt that updated versions of the handset will abandon any pretence of being brown in the very near future.

Called ‘Premium’ Chocolate phones, the new white (White Chocolate?) and pink (Turkish Delight?) models will reportedly offer boosted tech specs and some design tweaks but LG isn’t letting slip what they might be.

Still, with a little bit of burrowing it does seem that the primary upgrade is likely to be a new two megapixel integrated camera with possibly more onboard memory and a few grams shaved off the weight but it seems that pesky metaphorical cat will only be let out its nemesis bag when the company is good and ready.

Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be too far away. White and pink versions of the KG800 (as the original is also known) are already on the market in Korea (above) and by all accounts LG doesn’t appear to be planning anything too radical so the lab rats are unlikely to be expending much brain power or losing much sleep.

Now if only someone would make an actual working chocolate phone, that would be so cool and well, erm… sticky… and I suppose we’d all have brown ears… and need to take out ‘hunger insurance’… and… ok, it’s a stupid idea but I still want one.

Update:
A helpful word in my ear suggests the upgraded specs are likely to appear only on the 'chocolate edition' of the Chocolate phone at first, with pink and white models identical to the first generation for now...
