Pay-As-You-Go users confuse me. I mean I understand Why they go that route: no contract, only pay for what you use, restrict spending, etc but it rarely seems to work out that way. Of the friends I know on PAYG it just appears to make their lives a misery of high call rates, continuous trips to shops to buy credit and ultimately bills little smaller than those on contracts. Thankfully T-Mobile also agrees that things have gotten out of hand.

Kicking off on May Day (that’s May 1st if you aren’t up to scratch on the social and economic achievements of the International Labour Movement!), T-Mobile will scrap all its existing PAYG rates for three simple plans:

Everyone – a flat rate scheme where calls costs 12p per minute any time cross network.
Mates Rates (sic, as there should be an apostrophe in there) – 5p per minute calls and texts to friends also on T-Mobile.
Text Appeal – 3p per text to any UK network.

Furthermore, there’s 20 per cent extra credit on offer to all customers who top up by £20 or more during a single month along with the option to change between PAYG plans at any time.

Now I’m sure we can expect a response from the likes of Orange, O2, Vodafone, 3 et al but currently these form a rather impressive trio. I’m not usually a fan of including promotional material from companies, but I’ve double checked the pricing here and I’m rubbish at making tables so grab a gander below.

Rival networks, it’s over to you…
