Ever find yourself out of business cards at the most importune moment? Well, here’s a neat idea which will solve that once and for all, for free!

Invented by start-up Inside Wireless, its service allows users to design their business cards online, upload them to their phone and then send them to a recipients email. No fee is invoked, other than the cost of your local carrier charges.

Having tried the service, customisation works well too taking name, phone number(s), company, title, email, web address information and even personal messages which can be attached to your business card. Company logos may be uploaded in either jpeg, bmp, gif or png formats and a background colour is chosen before the completed version is previewed. When happy the site creates a web link to paste into your mobile for the download.

Better still, icard mobile works on any mobile phone or PDA with Java and GPRS functionality which, these days, is pretty much everything. So it’s clever, simple and won’t set you back a penny. Furthermore, it is yet another technological breakthrough to make up for my infamous short term memory which is garnering near legendary status.

Ever see Memento? That movie about the guy with the… um… err…

Now… where was I?
