Like I was saying yesterday music phones are everywhere. Just about all handset manufacturers have one, so clearly Toshiba didn’t want to be the one square kid in the playground.

The 803 fixes that problem rather nicely. It is a 3G clamshell with 2.2 megapixel camera, 1.3in screen and twin stereo speakers. It takes a different (and in my eyes, less gimmicky) approach to audio control than Tuesday’s Nokia 3250 too, since it rather sensibly places a four way rocker pad on the exterior of the shell. The talk time of the 803 isn’t terrible either for a 3G device at 320 minutes, while standby lasts 270 hours (400 hours on UMTS).

There are no pricing details on the 803 yet but – as you can see – it has been picked up by Vodafone so how much you shell out will clearly depend on the size of your contract. No other networks have been given a look in on the 803, so its negotiations with a company that cannot spell “phone” correctly if you want one.

Might be worth the sacrifice…
