There was much drooling in January when our roving editor finally got his hands on OQO’s much anticipated Model 01 at CES. He begged for a UK release at the time and now we have one.

A deal with UK website eXpansys means the super sexy machine is available immediately (well, there is a six day waiting list) and prices start at £1,569.95 including VAT. A whole range of accessories are available too, including additional batteries, leather cases, desktop stands, a carry sleeve, screen protector, docking cables, digital pens and even a US power supply.

For those who need a recap of just why we are so excited about the Model 01, you could do worse than have a look at Riyad’s hands on preview here. In short, however, this Ultra Personal Computer (uPC) is basically a PDA sized, yet fully functional Windows PC. Its screen slides out to reveal a miniature, but beautifully crafted, keyboard and track point and there is even built in Bluetooth and b wireless.

As far as power goes, the oomph behind the Model 01 is surprising as it has a 1GHz processor, 20GB hard drive and 256MB RAM. Firewire and USB ports are naturally part of the package and even the screen is transreflective so it should be readable both indoors and out. You’ll get about three hours use out of the Model 01, but the battery is removable so just slot another one in and you’re good to go.

Sneakily, we’ve managed to get a Model 01 into the labs for some testing already, so you’ll be able to check out our extensive review soon. As you can probably tell, we’re pretty excited!
