All the info about the asethetics and how you can attach it to yourself and you don't think to tell us what technology it uses?

Is this essentially a shiny pedometer? Or does it use GPS? Or both?

Shine uses a high precision 3-axis accelerometer to track your activity.

The shine was great, especially for stand up paddle boarding. My problem was that the battery only lasted 11 days not the three months they said. So it got expensive. Then it came off my shoe during a cycle ride and I have not seen it since. I was really disappointed as the shine has great potential. Sadly I cannot afford another one yet.

My teenage son lost his after just 5 days. The disk apparently fell out of his wristband--while he was sleeping, no less. So far, my two attempts to complain to the company have fallen on deaf ears, just fueling my anger over this. Instead of worrying about how attractive the device is, they should first make sure that an activity tracker can't fall out/off so easily! I DO NOT recommend this. It was a very expensive gadget for 5 days of use.

Nice gadget, but don't trust its so called strong magnet clip on thing. I lost mine after 2 weeks of using it, the day I lost it was the first day I used the clip instead of the wrist band. I wasn't even doing any special physical activity, it was just a walk. It recommends you clasp it on shoes for cycling, but if you are thinking about getting this gadget, you definitely wouldn't want to leave this on clipped your shoes, won't stay there of too long. It's probably best just worn as a watch or perhaps a pendant. You can't be checking whether it's there every second minute..I had doubts when a friend of mine recommended it and I had a look at his, the only thing holding the unit itself is a silicon ring easy to pop out as well even as a watch. Looks pretty cool but I don't think I'll get another one until they improve this and also more accurate sleep monitoring.....money down the drain for now :(

"Within the app you can not only personalize your activity goal, but also let it know where you’re wearing the Misfit Shine for more precise data gathering and whether you want the fitness tracker to display the clock or progression lights first. " - This seems to be inaccurate on the point of the wearing position.

The section you're referring to in the app is called " wearing shine " and they don't actually TELL you that your data is more precise by selecting one of their positions. What it says is " Help the Misfit team build better algorithms for you by selecting your favorite position to wear the Shine" There's even a selection of "Other- Be creative! and tell us about it". Personally I'd take that to mean they are trying to become more accurate not that they ARE more accurate. So far it seems to be often in-accurate tagging things like me just walking the dog as instead me going on a "very active" bike ride. Not sure I'd go so far as to call this very accurate but it has been nice to have this tiny wear able thing thats so versatile hanging around.

There CS team seems to be very responsive about feedback but I wish they would hurry up and partner with an app that can bring food tracking and more robust activity tracking to the table. Their idea of having a picture taking option of what you had for lunch isn't very helpful sadly.

I got one for me and one for my wife.
Mine works but the other won't pair. Their
customer service is nonexistent. My old UP24 seems
to have fewer issues.

It tracks how far you walk in a day, how much you sleep at night, and tells the time.

Seriously do not buy this product. The band is a piece of crap and within weeks you will lose your shine because it does not hold in the silver watch shine piece tight enough. I loved mine but it did not last long as the hardware to hold it was garbage. You would be better off spending your money elsewhere.
