It might not be sleek and sexy, but the 12in Lenovo ThinkPad X220 laptop has it where it counts: a rugged chassis, amazing keyboard, completely flexible and upgradable specifications including 3G, great IPS screen and - the icing on the cake - amazing battery life. If you can live with its chunky dimensions, require a customisable ultraportable and can afford its asking price, the Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is still one of the best small laptops available.

I am a little confused. This is the 2nd recent review from Trusted Reviews for high end ultra portable laptops that failed to mention the Sony Z as competition? Admittedly the Sony Z was reviewed 6 months ago but it was the pinnacle then of high end 13in ultra portables and still is as far as I can see. Is there a reason the TR team have ignored the Sony Z since they reviewed it?

Sorry, Ardjuna, ignore my 1st comment. You answered a similar query from me when I commented on the Samsung series 9 900X3B earlier this month. I await the new Sony Z review

Where did you get yours from for £829? The prices on the adverts next to your price are like £1600!!!

I've got one of these and don't regret it one bit. Get the IPS screen and the fingerprint scanner. If you want USB 3.0 then you may still have to order one with an i7 processor - that was the case when I got mine.

Keyboard and screen are awesome and if yuo install Synaptics own driver rather than Lenovo's for the touchpad then that is good too.

Buy it with the hard drive and put your own SSD in - I did, an Intel, and it flies. Be aware that the SSD's have to be 7mm thick ones though.
