When you buy a Toshiba laptop, don't register the warranty. Wait 6 months and then call Toshiba UK to register the warranty. When they ask the purchase date, just tell them a date almost 6 months after the manufacture date of the NB. To find the manufacture date, check the serial number. The first character will be 1-9/X/Y/Z and the second will be a number. The first number being the month (3 = march, Y = november) and the second number being the year (9 = 2009). So, if your serial number started 49 (April 09) Call them in October, tell them you bought it in September - voilla, an extra 5-6 months free warranty.

Has Trusted Reviews done a review of the Toshiba Satellite Pro U400? As I understand, this is a similar laptop without the annoying gloss everywhere. Has it got similar spec?
