Having been gazumped by the 10in MSI Wind, Asus responded with its own 10in offering: the Eee PC 1000. Available in Linux and Windows (1000H) versions, the Linux version has a 40GB SSD and the Windows one a 80GB hard drive. Otherwise they're identical to the 901.

Windows Version - "Asus has gone out of its way to make an Eee PC to suit every need and if you're after an everyday mobile computer, the Eee PC 1000H will suit many. Its larger keyboard makes it easier to use for adults, while its greater storage also provides the flexibility a more mature and demanding audience are after. What We Think Now
Given the presence of the MSI Wind and Samsung NC10, it is hard not to feel the Eee PC 1000 is the weak link in Asus' Atom powered netbook line-up. It's bulkier than its closest competition and though the keyboard is an improvement over the 901, that's hardly difficult and both its immediate competition offer better keyboards as well. Indeed, the only thing it still has is probably the best battery life, but even here its advantage is only slight.

The Bottom Line
A sensible option at the time, the Eee PC 1000 still represents decent value but there are other better 10in netbooks out there with more to come.
