The unibody MacBook design is already iconic, and clearly HP is a fan...

The company has today confirmed the 'Envy 15' (top) and Envy 13' (bottom), 15.6in and 13.1in laptops which bear more than a passing resemblance to Cupertino's creations and sport similarly premium price tags.

A full breakdown of specs hasn't been revealed, but what we do have are proper Core 2 Duo powered machines with sub 1in thick bodies and weights of just 1.7Kg (Envy 13) and 2.35Kg (Envy 15). Showing yet more love for Jonathan Ive are the single button trackpads with multi-touch gesture control (pinch to zoom, etc), but I have to wonder about how convenient the lack of a physical right click button will be.

On the plus side, HP has gone to town with the duo's displays with the Envy 13 in particular impressing with 82 per cent colour gamut reproduction and a high brightness rating of 410 nits. The Envy 15 isn't quite so good with 300 nits of brightness and colour gamut isn't mentioned. Discrete graphics are on offer with Radeon HD 4330 and HD 4830 GPUs with up to 1GB of VRAM and battery life is quoted as up to an impressive seven hours.

The HP Envy 13 and Envy 15 will land in mid October with Windows 7 pre-installed and prices starting from $1,699 and $1,799 respectively. Yep, style comes at a price...
