Strange to see Nokia get into the PC market. It might have been better if they came up with a eBook or tablet-netbook... some thing to compete against the roumoured Apple Tablet.

now that is a darn sexy netbook worth getting excited over, if they dont push the price over 500 euro i'm definitely getting one. just in time to ditch my old trusty ultraportable!

Nice.

Probably uses Intels next-gen processor and chipset hence the HDMI and battery life. Unless AMD have got a surprise in the wings.

comment Steve said on 24th August 2009

I'd be very tempted if the price is right! If they price it anything north of £400 then forget it.

comment OldTimer said on 24th August 2009

I'd be amazed if it is available as anything other than bundled with a data contract.

Oooh, enticed, but don't think I can let go of the NC10 just yet.
If Nokia release this for £300, they'll make a killing.

Actually, here's another point: This'd be a perfect pairing for more of those Broadband+laptop offers that the mobile networks are raving about these days.

did it mention what kind of atom is in there? and will it have ION? ION + dual core atom + windows 7 = win.

comment Gordon said on 24th August 2009

@ilovethemonkeyhead - mentioned neither, but with that battery life I'd be very surprised with dual core Atoms and ION! I suspect single core Atom and Intel's newer GMA 4500 MHD graphics.

or a battery compound breakthrough...

nuclear power?

Uses an Intel Atom Z530 @ 1.6Ghz (no fan)

The Atom CPU is optimised for MID's / UMPC. Has a TDP of 2w instead 2.5w of standard atom processor so should help with battery life.

@AlmostDone - Nokia has not officially announced any HDD or CPU information, so we'll take this with a pinch of salt for now. A Z series CPU doesn't pack a lot of punch, but it can be greatly assisted by a decent GPU.

comment farki80 said on 25th August 2009

Brilliant. The Atom CPU isn't a factor to me as I already have a fast C2D ultraportable. This will be good for those short weekend breaks where I only need it for web access and the odd video playing.
