TrustedReviews NewslettersHaving had a stab with an AMD-based sub-notebook, Gateway is now following up with a smaller Intel Atom-based companion. While the LT2000 specifically isn't going to come to the UK, as Gateway uses the Packard Bell brand over here, the system is likely to see a UK launch with a different name. I'm sure you're all quivering with anticipation.

Harking back to an age when netbooks were less than inspiring the 10.1in display offers a 1,024 x 600 pixel resolution suggesting someone at Gateway missed Intel's memo. Inside is Intel's older GMA950 chipset is present, with a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.
Ethernet, three USB ports, and Wi-Fi are unsurprisingly present. A 3-cell battery touts three hours of use but reality is unlikely to match such claims. Neither a multi-card reader and multi-touch touchpad nor a built-in webcam are likely to set anyone's world on fire.
Two choices of colour - 'NightSky' black and 'Cherry' red - are available in case such considerations are what you're looking for in a netbook. At $299.99 in the US the almost inevitably UK-destined Packard Bell equivalent will likely arrive in the £250 region.

The AMD option is significantly better spec'ed with a better peformance Athlon processor, GPU, more RAM, higher res, larger storage etc, for only a bit more money (in the US).... more
