£159 is the price point that netbooks should be aiming at, rather than north of £300...

It looks very similar to this http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Laptops/Netbooks/Arianet+7%22+Minibook+V2+with+Windows+CE+?productId=36193 so possibly shares the same ARM processor?

It'll be a waste of money if it doesn't have flash, and 30 hours internet access is rather stingy if it doesn't come with wifi.

This is available at Maplin.co.uk for £149 and it claims that it comes with a Samsung ARM 9 400Mhz processor. Its currently out of stock though...

Apart from being cheap, what else is there? No attraction to me at all.

Are you sure it comes with 3g access, all other sites say it's a GPRS connection like with the Pocketsurfers..... BIG DIFFERENCE!

I just got one of these thinking it would be ideal to take on holiday for doing all sorts of things. The GPRS connection and wi-fi work ok, as does the web browser and wp & spreadsheet.
What doesn't work is the Media player, so I can't listen to music or watch movies, the image viewer so I won't be able to look at my holiday snaps, the PDF reader so I can't even look at the user manual I downloaded, or the pidgin chat so I can't connect to MSN (gives me an error) or Yahoo (the connection box is too tall and there's no means of scrolling down to complete details).
Also I can't set date and time becasue the "settings" utility isn't in the utility menu!
I'm still waiting for an email back after 3 days to help resolve these issues.
Sorry for the rant, but this looked just the ticket, and it's just not delivering.
If I get any joy I will be sure to let you know.

I had to post this to say that not all experiences have been average. I absolutely love my UbiSurfer. It is really fun to work with and I have had no problems running any apps at all. I’ve used it quite a bit since I first bought it. I’ve spent hours on the GPRS and hooked up the Wifi at home both day and night and it really impresses. Before I bought it, I was sceptical about the Linux interface as I never used it and heard it was difficult to work with, but it looks and works just like Windows and anyone who has used Windows will get this straight off. Highly recommended.
