You might think the Packard Bell dot m/a looks familiar and it does. Aside from a Packard Bell logo instead of a Gateway one, this is still a LT3103u - and, yes, that means it's still not-a-netbook. Not, given the price and specs, than many of you will care.

It's on price that the dot m/a really wins through - £349 is far from daylight robbery when it nets an 11.6in, 1,366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.2GHz single-core AMD L110 CPU, 1GB of RAM, ATI X1270 graphics and a 160GB hard drive.

Upgraded models will, of course, cost more, but will offer up to a 320GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM and, more notably, 3G and Bluetooth modules. Sadly no word, as yet, on the cost of those. The system comes with a 3-cell battery which can be upgraded to a 6-cell unit, offering a claimed four hour battery life; making that dot m/a's main stumbling point considering we're used to seeing as much as eight hours use from similar systems by now.

Connectivity comprises three USB ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and a multi-card reader. Either Vista Home Basic or Home Premium will be installed, depending on the sec of system purchased and all configurations also come with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.

The dot m/a will be available from next month should you fancy one.
