Despite the fact that anything bigger then 10.xin is - for what feels like the millionth time - not a netbook, Asus has just such a system ready for launch. It's called the Eee PC 1101HA and it packs an 11.6in display.

The 1101HA shares a similar aesthetic to the 'seashell' Eee PC, although obviously on a larger scale thanks to its larger display. That 11.6in, LED-backlit panel will have a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution; one benefit of the not-a-netbook size.

Inside is a 1.33GHz Atom Z530 CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Given those specs, it's hardly surprising that Windows XP will be pre-installed. Also unsurprisingly, for an Eee PC, the touchpad is of the multi-touch variety.

Ethernet, a trio of USB ports and Draft-N wireless sit alongside an SDHC card reader and a VGA output. With its six-cell battery the Eee PC 1101HA weighs in at 1.4Kg.

The Eee PC 1101HA should launch later this month and in Europe will cost €399 (~£340) which leads me to suspect it will push towards £400 in the UK.

@Ash: Because you can't get a 1.4kg, 12", 6 hour battery life 'proper notebook' for this price.

Interestingly all the shots of the lid I have seen of this notebook do not sport the eee logo but the standard asus one. Can anyone work this out?

Promising screen size and resolution followed by Vista basic, 1GB RAM, 1.33Ghz Atom and £400 selling price.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Quick correction - Z530 is the 1.6ghz processor is it not? You have it as the 1.33ghz (which is the Z520).
