Following - if a little late - in the footsteps of just about every other netbook maker, Packard Bell is launching two larger models to accompany its 8.9in Dot netbook - the 10.1in Dot S and 11.6in Dot M.

Unsurprisingly the Dot netbooks share some similarities with those from Packard Bell's parent company, Acer. The chassis appear nearly identical - what changes there are seem purely aesthetic - and share features such as a multi-touch touchpad and a choice of three-cell or six-cell batteries. Moreover the Dot S and Dot M come in the same sizes as the Aspire One D250 and the 11.6in Aspire One respectively.

The Dot M sports a 1,366 x 768 pixel screen, as per the 11.6in Aspire One, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth and optional 3G connectivity. Also similarly the Dot M has a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM and is powered by an Intel Atom CPU.

Intel's 1.33GHz Z520 will be powering the Dot S, which is based around the older 945GSe chipset. Again a 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM are present alongside WiFi and Ethernet connectivity.

The Dot M and Dot S have €299 (~£267) and €399 (~£356) MSRPs respectively. I'd expect a direct Euro to Sterling conversion -so £299 and £399 - in the UK.
