Didn't MSI come up with the same design? Would be cool if they can integrate a GPS and Freeview tunner in it ;)

From the small thumbnail at the top of the article, "the 'edge-to-edge' 10in screen" looks more like "the thick bezel-to-thick bezel 10in screen" - but I may be wrong.

A non-replacable battery, for me, adds a sense of limited life to the whole product, and I have got a bit of a problem with that.

I may buy a 'normal' laptop and never need to change the battery before I upgraded it, but there is a strange sort of comfort in having the option!

would it be too difficult for them to put these new styles towards a proper full sized laptop (with proper full sized components). it seems like all anybody wants to make are netbooks, which have, put simply, engulfed the market and swallowed everything in their wake.

I now think Asus is simply rebranding their consumer division with the EEE brand, as lets face it outside tech circles the name Asus never carried much weight - I guess with the runaway success of the netbook that Asus saw it as an opportunity to build a new more consumer recognizable brand for themsevles - hell a lot of people I wouldn't consider remotely into tech now know the EEE brand so I'd say it's working.

As one of the accursed owners of an Eee900, I would avoid an Asus with a built-in battery like the plague! We had a hell of a time getting Asus to agree to a battery trade-in last year. With this new model, they would have got away scot free.

Battery concerns aside, I think this is a really poor effort. The Chinese/Taiwanese manufacturers are really the worst when it comes to ripping off, or *ahem* 'paying homage' to successful, often Western designs. Nothing too wrong with that, if only they would try doing it with at least a modicum of originality. If I sported one of these I would probably come across as a wannabe Mac owner fashion victim (not necessarily suggesting that Mac owners are fashion victims, got nothing against Macs).

Will someone finally take a clue from Lenovo's X300 series?!

What's with these ultraportables lacking functionality(Excluding aforementioned X30x series) and thinking customers are stupid enough to buy these?

Oh, excuse me, I forgot how successful the MBA became despite tech geeks screaming in horror.
