Sony Netbook Spotted

The rumours of a Sony netbook launch in Q4 look to be coming good. If pair of leaked images from the FCC can be trusted, which it almost certainly can, Sony definitely has some manner of small form factor system in the works.

As the filing details the label as 128mm wide, a quick bit of measuring in Photoshop suggests the machine itself is roughly 250mm wide by 120 mm deep. As the photo betrays, it's a pretty strange shape leaving a couple of questions. First, what size and aspect ratio screen is Sony likely to have packed into such a form factor and second, how can a decent sized keyboard and touchpad both fit in so little space? The former is anyone's guess, but the latter problem seems easily solved by using a trackpoint instead of a touchpad - which some would likely prefer anyway!
The label information shows space for placement of a Windows logo, so we know the system will at least have the option of XP or (perish the thought) Vista. Further, the filing details testing for both EVDO and HSPA wireless net connections (only the latter being of relevance to us Brits) as well as the usual array of Bluetooth and WiFi we've all come to expect on just about every PC and mobile phone going.
Judging by the FCC's promise of the full manual and further details set for release in January, I'm willing to bet we'll see a launch by Sony at CES.

@Darfuria: NEC, Shuttle, Creative, Panasonic and Pioneer could all conceivably release netbooks so we may not have seen everyone enter the market just yet.
