Lenovo 'e' Series Netbooks Hit The UK

You may have forgotten that Lenovo hasn't released its entry into the netbook market yet and that's okay. Nonetheless, though, an official release date has been divulged, in addition to a hit at UK pricing.

The S9e and S10e, as the 8.9 and 10.2in systems are called respectively, are hardly memorable in the veritable sea of similar sub-notebooks now available - especially versus the delightful Samsung NC10. Stand-out features do not include the 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 4GB SSD or 160Gb hard drive options or even the choice of three different colours - we've seen such things before.

The choice of Operating systems on offer, though, is pretty interesting. In addition to the instant-on SplashTop Linux sported by the S9e and S10e, Lenovo offers either Windows XP Home, XP Pro or Novell SLED 10 Linux. The addition of an ExpressCard slot isn't all that common in the netbook market, either.

Prices are set to sit in the £300 region, again just like most such similar netbooks. Ultimately we'll have to wait until we get our hands on one to see if Lenovo can take on the current netbook of choice, Samsung's NC10

Without 3G built in, it's already obsolete. No one wants a netbook that only operates when near a Wi-Fi spot. Dell has a netbook with 3G inside it as does other Lenovo laptops... more

For homeuser such netbook would be a second laptop and I would use a 3G dongle(usb stick) from my primary laptop instead to save extra data subscription fee. As long as it have blu... more
