It's a bit of a shame to hear that, at least according to DigiTimes' sources, VIA and nVidia are putting their plans to collaborate in the netbook market on hold. As great as Atom is, we hoped to see a netbook sporting a VIA Nano CPU as our desktop testing at least showed a definite performance advantage in Nano's favour.

Of course the only netbook that sported a VIA processor (a frankly rubbish C7 at that) was the HP 2133 Mini Note. Its successors, however, the HP Mini 1000 and Mini 700 will both pack Atom CPUs, so even if VIA wanted to put a processor in a netbook, it seems no manufacturer is interested.

Plans for MIDs sporting nVidia and VIA chips are also on hold, apparently. It's not all bad news, though. VIA and nVidia are at least still collaborating to push out desktop products to be shown off at CES in January.
