Samsung Dropping NC10 Price

Despite not having even been released in the UK yet, Samsung is already dropping the price of its NC10 netbook, in order to better compete with its rivals. Previously slated to cost £329, the system now has an MSRP of £299 - a much more reasonable proposition.

For the unfamiliar or forgetful, the NC10's specs line-up as follows:

10.2in, 1,024 x 600 LED-backlit display.
1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU
512MB or 1GB of RAM
80GB, 120GB, 160GB 5,400 rpm hard drive
Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi
Three USB ports, VGA out, card reader
1.19Kg (3-cell battery) 1.33Kg (6-cell battery)
Up to eight hours battery life with 6-cell battery
Anti-bacterial "Silver Nano Technology" keyboard
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

It's worth remembering that £299 is the ex VAT price, so in theory we could still see the NC10 going for some £350 on-the-street - bearing in mind that's the highest-specced, most expensive model available. Given the Eee PC 1000H, Windows XP and all, currently sits around £330, Samsung does seem to have its pricing better aligned with the competition post this change.

It's definitely cheaper than an Asus N10, at any rate!
