I'll give you three guesses as to what the NB in Toshiba's newly-announced NB100 stands for. Yup, that's right: netbook. As if we didn't already have enough offerings in an already really crowded netbook market…

You can probably guess the specs without reading below, but for completeness sake they look as such:
  • 8.9in, 1,024 x 600 LED-backlit screen
  • 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU
  • Up to 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • Up to 120GB hard drive
  • Ethernet, 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Two USB 2.0 ports, VGA out
  • Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux
Those USB ports sport Toshibas Sleep-and-Charge ability, allowing connected devices to draw power even if the netbook is turned off. While useful, it's a feature that will need to be used sparingly as Toshiba reckons the NB100 will offer a little less than four hours of battery life (3hr47min to be precise) - although under what usage scenario that was achieved is anyone's guess.

Anyone else? Anyone?

Another indeed, but there is no denying that toshiba are a big player in the notebook space, so you can see netbooks start to crop up more with business users.

Looks beautiful, I hope the gloss is functional though and not a fingerprint taking case and reflecting screen.

It's also nice to see another netbook using an 8... more
