TrustedReviews NewslettersWe noted in Lenovo's ThinkPad Centrino 2 refresh that the ThinkPad X300 was sadly missing from the line-up. That's no longer the case, though, because as of the 26th of August the updated ThinkPad X301 will be available in America, hopefully finding its way over here soon after.
Specs-wise the system is fairly similar to its predecessor, but with a few exceptions:
- Core 2 Duo ULV processor
- DDR3 RAM
- 13.3in, 1,440 x 900 screen
- 64GB or 128GB SSD option
- DisplayPort, VGA outputs
- WWAN, GPS, WiMA, UWB modules
Lenovo says the X301 has 20 per cent better performance than its predecessor, and the move to Centrino 2 should mean that comes with the benefit of improved battery life, too. Lenovo may just have settled the office debate as to which is more desirable, the X300 (or rather the X301 now) or Sony's Vaio TZ - hopefully the latter will see an update soon!
Price wise, the X301 is set to start from $2,599 (~£1,400) but that will doubtless increase by a decent margin if you want to upgrade to that 128GB drive.

Is there any more information about the improved battery life? Has it improved by 10 minutes or are we talking about an hour?
