Whether you've followed the general news or controversy (such as the proposed UK boycott) surrounding the forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, there's no denying that it's going to be a big event - it's the Olympics for goodness sake. A perfect excuse, then, for a manufacturer to hope to score some publicity, and maybe even do a bit of good at the same time. Take Lenovo, which is auctioning off a set of Olympic-themes laptops signed by competitors.

The system in question is a Lenovo 3000 V200, specced up as follows:

* Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5250 (1.50GHz, 2MBL2, 667MHzFSB)
* Windows Vista Business
* 12.1 inches WXGA VibrantView TFT with integrated camera (1280 x 800)
* Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
* 1GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM
* 160GB, 5400rpm Serial ATA
* 8X Max DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) PATA Fixed Media Bay drive
* Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR, Intel WiFi

The notebook is signed by British Olympic badminton team member, Gail Emms making it a veritable collector's item. If you're into shuttlecock-based sports, that is.

As the final price of the laptop is the result of the auction and, more importantly, the proceeds go to charity there's no way we can comment on value. Besides, product itself isn't really important, it's what's behind it that counts.
