When we reviewed the HP 2133 Mini-Note we were pretty (in fact, very) disappointed with its performance. Even watching a YouTube video was a chore for the poor under-powered Via CPU nestled within the promising chassis. Not to fret though, because if you have Windows XP or Vista installed on your Mini-Note the latest chipset and graphics drivers apparently fix those issues somewhat.

According to HP 2133 Guide the update actually makes web-based video watchable using Vista, both small and in full-screen, as long as you don't open up another tab or window. On XP video playback is apparently fine even if you open up other sites in the background.

Offline video playback was also improved apparently, with (standard definition) videos becoming watchable on both Vista and XP. Testing of this was done using the Hulu player, so your mileage may vary if you're using a different video player, or different codecs. PC mark scores also improved for both operating systems which would imply general responsiveness should also be improved, in applications such as Word and Excel, for example.

Frankly we'd never recommend installing Vista on as lowly a PCU as the Via C7-M anyway, but if you really want to then knowing you can actually watch videos is always good. Now can Linux users can see similar improvements please, Via?
