Eee Stick Surfaces

The FCC isn't an agency with which we usually concern ourselves, but just occasionally something interesting surfaces from the depths of its database of products. Today's find is the Eee Stick, previously shown off at Computex: a pair of wireless controllers shaped rather like the Wii Nunchuck. We're particularly interested in the devices turning up at the FCC because it helps quash rumours that the Eee Stick wouldn't ever be a real product.

A quick snoop of the manual shows that the kit comprises a USB dongle (for the 2.4GHz wireless) and a pair of controllers; one with an analogue stick, the other with an array of buttons instead. Both remotes have a pair of shoulder buttons, are powered by two AA batteries and come with wrist straps.

We also know, from Computex, that the controllers are gyroscopic and according to the information in the FCs copy of the manual, a program called GMC needs to be run to use that function. It's a small stretch but perhaps that acronym stands for "Gyroscopic Motion Control". The manual also implies that a set of applications will come bundled with the Eee Stick, so expect some motion controlled gaming.

We can't be sure yet whether we'll be seeing Eee Stick stock in UK shops any time soon, but looking at the current trend of mass hysteria for just about everything Eee it seems likely. Now we just need to work out what we'd actually want to use the controllers for…
