MSI has been pretty cagey about revealing some details of the Wind sub-notebook, but that doesn't matter because e-tailer Expansys has put the system up for pre-order. In doing so the final specs of the Wind have been near-enough confirmed, so take a gander.

We know, then, that a 1.6GHz processor is on-board, which we all know by now is an Atom chip (albeit unofficially), 1GB of RAM and 80GB hard drives are featured. A 10in, 1,024 x 600 pixel, screen sits alongside Bluetooth connectivity and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Colour options, at least on Expansys, are currently Black, White and Pink - the latter being my choice of course… ahem.

Either Linux or Windows XP Home can be chosen as the Wind's operating system, reflecting in the price. A Windows based Wind will set you back £349.95 whereas a Linux Wind is priced at £319.95. That sits nicely in line with the £320 Asus Eee PC 900 launched a few weeks ago, so it seems reasonable to assume Expansys is on the money (pun not intended) with those figures.

We'll find out for sure when the Wind launches next month.
