Jason Shen, CEO of Asus, certainly knows how to maintain interest in the Eee PC. No sooner has the 8.9in system launched than the next version is already being discussed - at the Taiwanese Eee PC 900 release event nonetheless.

A 10in screen and an Atom processor are the changes scheduled to be released at Computex come June. Co-incidentally that would correspond exactly with MSI's planned announcement date for the Wind, which is expected to also offer an Atom processor and a 10in screen - the plot thickens!

That both independent manufacturers would cite Computex as the launch of Atom-based sub-notebooks, we're inclined to believe these prospective launches will actually happen on time. Presumably we can also expect a whole slew of other devices all sporting Atom CPUs to launch at the same time.

Given the current Eee PC's processor is a 900MHz Celeron, which has a 5W TDP, and the Atom boasts TDPs in the range of 0.6W to 2.5W, we're also daring to expect some decent power saving and thus battery life increases to accompany the new models. We'll know for sure in but a few weeks now.
