While this isn’t quite the overclocking notebook Ed saw at Computex, it is reasonably impressive nonetheless. Built upon Intel’s Santa Rosa platform, as is pretty much everything now, the GX700 is notable in that it actually manages to include all the features once thought to be a requirement for certification. So, on the bill is a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T7500, 17in 1,920 x 1,200 screen, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB SATA harddrive, Draft-N wireless and 1GB of Turbo Memory. The latter only recently appearing at all when Asus announced a range of laptops featuring it.

Lastly, graphics are provided by an nVidia 8600m GT with 512MB of memory. In theory then, this should be a pretty quick machine. Aesthetically the GX700 shouldn’t disappoint fans of glossy piano black and red flame-effects. Considering the market MSI is aiming for, there shouldn’t be too many complaints. Price wise you’ll be shelling out £1,099 VAT inclusive for the privilege of owning one of these machines, which will be up for sale in mid to late August.
