E-shift is an interesting technology but calling it 4K is only confusing. When I went to school 2* (1920*1080) was not equal to (2*1920)*(2*1080) i.e. 4K. So it can not display with that resolution and as stated in the article can not use it as input. If you are not complaint with a standard, then do not try to ride on it's hype. I think that it is a smart move, putting the pixels diagonally and that way probably fooling the eyes that it is of higher resolution. Something that should maybe be used in future standards? But it does not make it right to call it 4K.
